Haze Gray & Underway

Lone Sailor Memorial

My time in the Navy spanned 10 years, 1 month and 15 days. During that time I met a number of great people, and enjoyed the time on board four ships. Two of which I learned and honed my skills as a Machinists Mate. Skills which have helped me in my current civilian career.

All four ships have been decommissioned, and either sold to another country, or sold for scrap. The memories though remain, and today still bring a smile. Two of the ships were considered Tin Cans, and I am proud to be a part of that fraternity called Tin Can Sailors.

I would like to thank Tin Can Sailors, The National Association of Destroyer Veterans for providing photos of the engineroom, mess decks and berthing compartment. They bring back a lot of memories.
